Bran Castle (German Törzburg, Hungarian Törcsvár) is a historical and architectural monument, located in Bran-Rucăr, 30 km from Brasov.
A document issued by King Louis I of Hungary (1342-1382) 19 noimebrie 1377 in Zvolen confirmed seat Saxons of Brasov (totaque communitas Saxonum Brassouiensis sedis) the right to raise, as promised at the expense of their masters and a new city Stone Bran (Lapide Tydrici promiserunt Novum castrum in building). On this occasion, the king promises Brasov that if you get Romanian Land "in our hands", then Customs will be moved from Rucăr (Ruff Arbor) at Bran. The reference in the document in 1377 on a "new city of stone", allows the inference that the stone fortress, which was to be built on the site, was preceded by an earlier border reinforcement. This castle, probably wooden, will be raised by the Teutonic Knights between 1211-1225. It is attributed to the master Theodorikus. In the thirteenth century the territory was subject to the jurisdiction of the city Bran Royal County of Alba Iulia.

Although he entered the tourist circuit and folklore as Dracula's castle, it seems that Vlad the Impaler never lived in the castle. However the myth seems to be stronger than reality ... Here is pouring Interview with the Vampire "[1], a film with this subject as a direct allusion to the supposed traits of Wallachian prince vampire. Recently he was returned in kind by the Romanian State's Dominic Habsburg and his two sisters as heirs of Princess Ileana. The owners are committed for three years will not change the destination of the museum. Romania has assumed the costs of renovation and maintenance of the castle and has a right of first refusal for future purchase of the castle.
